In Genesis 37, Jacob asked his son Joseph to go to his brothers who were pasturing the flock. Many versions translate Joseph’s response as “I will go”, but his actual response is very interesting. Literally he told his father: “Behold me!”
Joseph placed himself totally at his father’s disposal with those words, “Behold me!” He was saying, here I am; all that I have and all that I am is before you; I will do whatever you ask. Those words are a good model for our own responses when our Heavenly Father has an assignment for us, indicating our willingness to do whatever He asks us. May that simple, two word answer be our own response to whatever God asks of us today: “Behold me!”
