In Psalm 92:2 the Psalmist says he will “declare Your steadfast love in the morning and Your faithfulness by night”. This is typical of Hebrew poetry, which is characterized by parallelism, but it is not over-reaching to think that there is something to the contrast in the terms here: declaring God’s love in the morning, and His faithfulness at night.
In the morning, we are usually more positive, ready to be filled with, and exult in, God’s love. But evenings for many of us are the more difficult time. At the end of the day we are tired, physically and emotionally. We are more likely to be worn down and distressed by our various troubles. It is then, at night, that we need to remember that God is faithful.
Make no mistake: both God’s lovingkindness and faithfulness are towards each of His children ALL the time. But Psalm 92:2 nudges us to especially remember His lovingkindness in the morning, and His faithfulness at night.
