We often point out how God uses trials and difficulties for His purposes — and the repeated witness of scripture is that He certainly DOES do that. But here in Psalm 25:17 David entreats God: “Bring me OUT of my distresses.”
There IS a place for that! It is not wrong to ask God to bring you OUT of the times of difficulty and distress you have experienced — especially if you have learned and grown through them. Maybe you sense that this is that time for you? If so, perhaps you should pray a prayer similar to David’s: “Lord, I have learned and grown through this time of trial; so have members of my family, as well as many others who have seen Your hand at work and have benefitted. Now, if it is Your will, I pray that You would do for me as You did for David, and ‘Bring me OUT of my distresses.’”
Thank you yet again for this encouraging word! Sometimes we assume that asking God to deliver us equates a lack of submission, or fortitude, or even faith! But the Lord knows that we are made of dust, and in His amazing love He will not try us above what we are able to bear. I needed to be reminded of this today!
I’m grateful the Lord used this word today, Marie-Anne. Thank you for letting me know!
Amen
