Seeking God

Psalm 24:6 says: “Such is the generation of those who seek Him, who seek the face of the God of Jacob”. What is the “such” that is referred to here? HOW do you “seek the face of the God of Jacob”? Those are important questions. Psalm 24 opens by saying that God is the Lord of all the earth. Since that is so, the most important thing anyone can do is to seek Him. Scripture commands us elsewhere to seek the Lord. But HOW do you do this?

The answer is found in the verses previous; they describe the “such” that is referenced here:
— :4 “He who has clean hands and a pure heart; who has not lifted up his soul to what is false, and does not swear deceitfully”. In other words, it is the one who PURIFIES himself from sin — who cleans his hands and his heart — who is seeking God. If seeking God is your goal, then you should determine to cleanse your life from all known sin. It is one thing to SAY that you are “seeking God” about something, but you SHOW how much you are truly seeking Him by the way you purify your life from sin. For “SUCH is the generation of those who seek Him”!
