Not Just For Atheists

Psalm 53:1 says, “The fool has said in his heart, ‘there is no God.'” It has often been quoted in regard to atheists, and certainly it applies. But the verse also applies to the many who claim to be God’s people who too often live and act as if there is no God:

— We are foolish when we question whether there is a purpose in our difficulties. Of course there is, because there is a God!
— We are foolish when we sin because “no one is looking.” Of course Someone is looking, because there is a God!
— We are foolish when we worry about whether we will be provided for. Of course we will be provided for; there is a God who is our Heavenly Father!

Psalm 53:1 does not apply only to the out-and-out atheist who vocally denies the existence of Deity. It also applies to US, whenever we act as if there were not one! Don’t live like that. Only “the fool has said in his heart, ‘there is no God.’”
