In Psalm 7:9 David calls God, “You who test minds & hearts.” The word “test” here means “examine, put to the test; prove, test, try.” This is what God constantly does with us. He tests us
– NOT with a “10 question quiz” needing intellectual answers; NOT with a physical test of far we can run or how many pushups we can do – but tests of how our mind will choose to respond, or where our heart will be inclined.
We will be faced with such tests today. I know I will be tested today. And so will you. We need to realize that it doesn’t matter as much whether we “make the sale” or “win the game” or impress people in some way today. What is important is how God sees our minds and hearts respond to the tests He sets before us. Let us pray for God’s grace to respond to each test today with a godly attitude, scriptural responses, and most importantly, trust in Him.
