He’s All I need

Colossians 2:10 says: “And in Him you have been made complete, and He is the head over all rule and authority.” This verse follows the main theme of the Book of Colossians, and reminds us of the sufficiency of Christ. “You have been made complete” is a perfect participle in Greek — it speaks of a completed action which has present abiding results. You have already been made complete, the Bible says here.

And significantly, it is “IN HIM” that this is so. You don’t need anything other than Jesus — no other experience, no other “secret teaching”, no other “key” to success. It is not that Jesus is “Step 1” and then you add to Him to get where you really need to be. No, this verse tells us you “are made complete” in Jesus. You have everything you need when you have Him!

The problem so many Christians have is not that they need more than Jesus. It is that they really do not know and appreciate and practice what they ALREADY have in Him! In Ephesians 3:8 Paul writes of “the unfathomable riches of Christ.” If you are a follower of Christ, you don’t need to look for “something more.” You just need to understand and implement the “unfathomable riches” that you already have in Him!
