It’s NOT the Economy, Stupid!

Dwight McKissic is a black Southern Baptist pastor in Arlington, Texas, and I applaud his boldness and courage in speaking out against the first black President of the United States– who now also carries the sad distinction of being the first sitting president to endorse homosexual marriage.  McKissic’s response (copied below from his blog, dwightmckissic.wordpress.com) helps make it clear that this is not just a political issue; it is not a racial issue; rather this is a moral issue, and a defining one at that.  The upcoming presidential election is NOT about “the economy, stupid” as so many are fond of saying.  Rather it is the basic morality of our nation which is at stake.  President Obama has endorsed a compromise of the most fundamental standards of biblical morality, and should be replaced in November.  Following is McKissic’s statement:

PASTOR MCKISSIC’S RESPONSE TO PRESIDENT OBAMA’S DECISION TO ENDORSE SAME-SEX MARRIAGES

By Wm. Dwight McKissic, Sr.

May 9, 2012

President Obama has betrayed the Bible and theBlackChurchwith his endorsement of same-sex marriage. The Bible is crystal clear on this subject, and theBlackChurchstrongly opposes same-sex marriage. His endorsement is an inadvertent attack on the Christian Faith.Americais now a candidate for the same judgment received bySodomandGomorrah. This was a sad, sad day and a very bad decision, by our beloved President. The moral impact of this day and decision is equal to the military impact of AL-Queda when they attacked theTwinTowerson 911. Today’s announcement is a moral earthquake equivalent to a tsunami or hurricane that will have far more devastating results than Katrina.

This means that parents are now going to have an extremely difficult time teaching their children that marriage biblically and traditionally is between a man and a woman, when the President that many love and admire is now on record endorsing sodomy. This is painful and shameful. TheBlackChurchshould galvanize, mobilize and address this matter with the same (if not greater) intensity, velocity and resolve as we did the Civil Rights Movement. If we don’t, our children and grandchildren will pay a far greater price in suffering from a governmental sanction of same-sex marriage than we would have under segregation.

Pastor McKissic has his work cut out for him among the black community, as the NAACP shows they will do anything to help President Obama be re-elected by their decision to endorse practicing homosexual marriage even though a strong majority of blacks do not support practicing homosexual marriage.
The President’s decision should serve as ANOTHER wake-up call to fellow Christians.
The assault on the Christian faith by President Obama continues.

Pastor McKissic should be encouraging professing evangelicals to vote, especially since half of the evangelicals did not care enough about our country to vote in 2008, not telling them why to not cast a vote for either candidate. He is dead wrong on this position.
He later softened his stance, but the damage was done.

ARLINGTON, Texas – A Texas-based Southern Baptist pastor says he refuses to vote for a Mormon or a man who supports gay marriage. In fact, he says he’d rather cast a fishing pole than a ballot.
“I cannot stand by President Obama and his beliefs on same-sex marriage. I cannot stand by Mitt Romney and his refusal to repudiate the racist text and history of Mormonism. Therefore, I choose not to vote for neither.”
