The “Problem” of Unanswered Prayer?

In Mark 10, James and John had made quite an ambitious request.  Jesus responded to them in :38 and said: “You do not know what you are asking for.”  James & John had asked to be seated on Christ’s left and right in His glory, but Jesus told them they were asking in ignorance; they had no clue as to what all was involved in their request.

Reading this, one wonders how many times God might say this same thing to us?!  So often, we do not know what all factors are involved in what WE are asking for, either – and then we wonder why God doesn’t answer our prayers!  Surely we should fall down on our knees and thank Him that He leaves so many of our ignorant prayers unanswered!  People often speak of “the problem of unanswered prayer” — but perhaps we should rather speak of it as “the BLESSING of unanswered prayer”!  Thank God for His overarching wisdom, goodness, and patience with us!
