Don’t Take The Bait!

II Timothy 2:23 admonishes: “But refuse foolish and ignorant speculations, knowing that they produce quarrels.” Then :24 begins “The Lord’s bondservant must not be quarrelsome …”. This verse commands God’s servants not to even get into “foolish” and “ignorant” discussions which you know are just going to lead to quarrels.

Proverbs 17:14 says: “The beginning of strife is like letting out water; so abandon the quarrel before it breaks out.” This is good word for many of us. The more mature we become in Christ, the more controlled by the Spirit of God, the more we will learn NOT to “take the bait.” Hit “delete.” Don’t say that provocative word. Don’t respond back to the jab. Just walk past. “Refuse foolish and ignorant speculations.” Don’t take the bait!
