My “Holy Saturday” Tradition
I attended a Good Friday service at Trinity Baptist, Norman last night and really enjoyed the service. It included some public worship singing, a series of scripture readings, and several choir anthems. I had not been in the habit, as … Continue reading
Learning to Hate Evil
Many Christians think we should not hate anything, but that is not true according to scripture. Psalm 97:10 says “Hate evil, you who love the Lord.” In fact, one of the greatest problems modern Christians have is that they do … Continue reading

You Yourself Have Taught Me
Psalm 119:102 says: “I have not turned aside from Your ordinances, for You Yourself have taught me.” The Psalmist saw God’s word as personal instruction from God Himself. You can sense, in his expression, “You Yourself have taught me,” what … Continue reading
Are You Taking His Name In Vain?
In Exodus 20:7, the 3rd Commandment says: “You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain.” There are many ways we can violate this command, but one of them is certainly by claiming to take the … Continue reading

No Excuse
In Psalm 119:110 the Psalmist declared: “The wicked have laid a snare for me, but I have not gone astray from Your precepts.” His commitment to follow God’s word even while others were trying to entrap him is an important … Continue reading
Memories (For My Mother’s 75th Birthday)
Mom, your grandson Paul went down in our family history for the prayer he prayed one night after going to your house in Moore: “God, I thank you that I got to go to Grandma’s house today, and that I … Continue reading
Unashamed to Care
In II Timothy 1:16, the Apostle Paul wrote that Onesiphorus “was not ashamed of my chains.” Onesiphorus was a true friend and minister — he was not ashamed of Paul’s situation, but loved and cared for him just the same.
