The Greatest Blessing

In Exodus 29:45 God said: “I will dwell among the sons of Israel and will be their God.” The great blessing of Israel was not invincible military might, unequalled prosperity, or unique religious rituals – but that GOD HIMSELF would dwell among them. We need to realize that this is STILL the greatest blessing a people can attain.

The great glory of heaven will not be streets of gold or pearly gates, perfect bodies, or reunion with loved ones. The incomparable blessing of heaven will be that we will dwell with GOD HIMSELF there. And Colossians 1:27 says “the riches of the glory of this mystery” of the gospel is “Christ in you, the hope of glory” — though few seem to realize it. Even most professed Christian people spend the vast bulk of their time and attention on material things, entertainment and earthly strategies for success, rather than seeking and cultivating and enjoying the presence of God, which scripture teaches is by far and away the greatest blessing we have – and the only one which will ultimately fulfill us.
