A Surprising Key To Your Restoration?

Job 42:10 contains an interesting detail regarding Job’s restoration by God after his trial. It says: “YHWH restored the fortunes of Job when he prayed for his friends.” Those last words may hold an important key to our own restoration and blessing.

Perhaps it is instructive to us that this verse says that God restored Job’s fortunes “WHEN HE PRAYED FOR HIS FRIENDS.” The blessing, and the reversal of his fortunes, did not come until he had first prayed for those same three friends who unjustly counseled and criticized him. Job could not harbor bitterness against his detractors and hope for God’s blessing. He needed to forgive, and pray for his enemies, just as Jesus teaches in Matthew 5:44, “Love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you.”

Perhaps some of us have blessings and restoration of fortune which are waiting on us to pray for some of OUR enemies? It is not an outlandish idea. Job 42:10 shows us that it has happened before!
