Glorify God

“But when the crowds saw this, they were awestruck, and glorified God, who had given such authority to men.” (Matthew 9:8)

This verse describes the response of the people to Jesus’ raising up of the paralzyed man who was brought to Him. It also serves as a good model for us.  This is the proper response whenever we see people do great things: we should give glory to GOD, not the people involved, for God gives all men the ability to do what they do.
— Do you enjoy watchng a graceful athlete? Glorify God, who has given such ability to men.
— Do you take pleasure in a beautiful painting or work of art? Glorify God, who has given such creativity to artists.
— Do you hear a beautiful song? Glorify God, who has given such talent to people.
— Are you convicted by a powerful sermon? Glorify God, who has given His word and His Holy Spirit among men on earth.

We could go on and on with such examples. Everything we do is to be for the glory of God (I Cor. 10:31). So whenever you appreciate something or see something amazing happen in a person’s life, you know what the proper response is: Glorify God!
