There is a sweet thought in Psalm 33:12, that we are “the people whom He has chosen for His own inheritance.” God has not chosen for His inheritance the glorious stars, or mighty angels, or the vast riches of the universe. He has chosen PEOPLE — you & I, if we are in Christ. This should influence the way we go to worship this Sunday:
First, we should go with a sense of great privilege and joy, knowing that we are His inheritance, and that He takes joy in our worship! Let us adore Him with enthusiasm!
We should also go remembering that since people are important to God, they should be to us as well: people in our own families first of all. Let us not neglect those closest to us in our Sunday morning haste. And may we not rush past those we will meet at church today; these are the people of God — His own inheritance! Let us treasure each one! The same is true regarding those we encounter in our community; and for people all over the world. After our God Himself, who is OUR inheritance, let us treasure people, whom He loves, and has chosen as “His own inheritance”!
