In Exodus 29:43 God said that He would meet with the sons of Israel at the tent of meeting, and that it “shall be consecrated by My glory.” That meeting place would be set apart, not merely by some religious act of men, but by the very presence of the glory of God Himself.
In the same way, our churches — and our own personal lives — should not just be “set apart” by the religious prescriptions of men, but instead should be obviously consecrated by the glory of the presence of God. Sadly, this is exactly what is MISSING from most of our lives and churches. We HAVE the man-made ordination, the human endorsements, the religious dedications – but we LACK the most important thing: the glory of God. The problem is, we seem to be content without it, and happy to go on in our lifeless routines. May God help us to recognize that our greatest need is not to receive the endorsement of men, but rather to be “consecrated by (His) glory.”
