“For He knew the one who was betraying Him …” (John 13:11)
“He KNEW.” Judas’ betrayal didn’t catch Jesus off guard. “HE KNEW” — all about it. So why did He allow it? Why didn’t He do something about it? Because even this evil that Judas was about to do, played into Jesus’ ultimate plan of redemption. Like all things, it was going to work together for good, for our salvation.
How comforting that should be to us in our own difficult situations today. God knows what is happening regarding us. He is not surprised by it. “He knows.” So then, we might be tempted to ask, why does He not do something about it? Perhaps He will. Or perhaps as in the case of Jesus here in John 13, maybe even the evil that is afflicting us or our loved ones, will, unbeknownst to us, somehow work together in His ultimate plan for good.
Our part in the mean time, as always, is to trust Him. In our situation today, as in His own in John 13, He knows!
Great article. Thank you!
