His Eternal Plan For You

“Father, I desire that they also, whom You have given Me, be with Me where I am, so that they may behold My glory which You have given Me, for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.” (John 17:24)

The plans the Lord has for our lives here on earth varies from person to person. But all of us who follow Him as Lord & Savior find His plan for our eternity here in John 17:24:

— He says He wants us to “be with Me where I am.” Yes, that does mean we will be in heaven (or the New Jerusalem) but the key thing He tells us here is that we will be “with Me.” His presence is the one thing we should look forward to the most. David said “In Your presence is fullness of joy; in Your right hand there are pleasures forever.” (Psalm 16:11) This is what we will experience forever as we are “with Him.”

— And what will we DO when we are “with Him”?  He says we will be with Him “SO THAT (the purpose) they may see My glory which You have given Me.” In heaven with Him, we will behold His glory, which will satisfy us with pleasure and joy.  It is just as Psalm 17:15 says: “As for me, I shall behold Your face in righteousness. I shall be satisfied with Your likeness when I awake.”

We may not know what the Lord has in store for us here on earth tomorrow, or next week. But we do know what our eternity holds: He plans for us to “wake up” one day in His presence, where we will be fully satisfied with His glory forever.
