“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ.” (Ephesians 1:3)

Ephesians 1:3-14 is notable for its list of blessings which God has given us as believers. But just as notable is the common instrument through which every one of these blessings comes:

“Every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places,” Paul tells us in :3, comes to us “in Christ.” It is not that some come through Christ, and some come through some other person, or some other way. “EVERY” spiritual blessing comes through HIM! We see this spelled out in the verses that follow:

— :4 He chose us IN HIM

— :5 He predestined us to adoption THROUGH Him

— :6 He bestowed His grace IN HIM

— :7 IN HIM we have redemption through HIS blood

— :9 His will is IN HIM

— :10 the administration of all things is IN HIM

— :11 IN HIM we have an inheritance

— :13 IN HIM we were sealed by the Holy Spirit when we believed.

This list makes it so clear; EVERY SPIRITUAL BLESSING IS FOUND “IN HIM.” Jesus Christ is Himself, “the fount of every blessing”!
