Proverbs 16:3 is a good word for any of us who make plans, whether personal, business, or in ministry: “Commit your works to YHWH and your plans will established.” The Hebrew here is literally “ROLL” your works to YHWH” — entrust them to Him! What a great picture of what we are to do by faith!
“ROLL” your works to the Lord, and you can have peace about the outcome. Hold them to yourself, and you will most likely be filled with anxiety. LIke the old hymn says: “Cast all your cares and your burdens upon Him, and leave them there, O leave them there!”
We show how much we are really “rolling” our works to the Lord by how much we pray. If most of our preparation is work we do ourselves (and there IS work we need to do, this by no means minimizes our responsibility) then it shows that our trust in primarily in our own efforts. But if we continually pray, it demonstrates that we know the results are really God’s work, and that we have “rolled” our plans to Him.
What plans are you making right now? Make sure you continually “roll” them to the Lord in prayer!
