THE Power For Salvation

Many Christians can quote Romans 1:16, but perhaps we need to hear again what it is really saying?  “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes …”. Here God reminds us that He has given us only ONE thing which has His power to save: the gospel.  We might nod our heads in thoughtless agreement, but we need to consider what does NOT have God’s power to save:

— Our great organizations and programming cannot save.

— Being “relevant” to societal fads will not save.

—  Good stories & illustrations will not save.

— Games and entertainment do not save.

God says the GOSPEL is His power for salvation. This means if we want people to be saved, there is ONE thing we must do: share the gospel (“Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures …” I Corinthians 15:3). Trust that gospel to save souls and change lives. There may or may not be some good to be had out of some of these other things, but the power of God for salvation is not to be found in them. Romans 1:16 makes it clear that only comes through the gospel!
