Sometimes after a confrontation with an annoying person we might be tempted to think: “I should have really let them have it”, but Proverbs 29:11 says otherwise: “A fool always loses his temper, but a wise man holds it back.”
The scripture says that it is “a fool” who loses his temper, and goes ahead and says and does things which are destructive — and which cannot be taken back. The wise man, according to scripture, “holds it back.” He may be tempted to respond in harmful ways, but he does not. He is controlled by the Holy Spirit, who produces His fruit of “self control” in him (Gal. 5:22-23).
So did you leave something unsaid to that disturbing person? Be glad you did. God says it is the wise person, controlled by His Spirit, who “holds it back.”
