What No One Else Can Do

“… he had often been bound with shackles and chains, and the chains had been torn apart by him and the shackles broken in pieces, and no one was strong enough to subdue him.” (Mark 5:4)

Mark 5’s description of the demoniac portrays a situation which was beyond the scope of man to help. “No one was strong enough to subdue him.” He was more powerful than any man. Nothing that any human could do would help. But there some Someone greater who could!

The chapter goes on to describe how Jesus commanded the demons to come out of the man, and how they submitted to Him: kneeling before Him, “asking permission”, etc.  We eventually see that Jesus made the  man well, and he became His disciple.  Jesus could do what no one else was able to do!

We need to remember this when we face those “hard” cases, of friends or loved ones whom people have tried and failed multiple times to help. There is POWER in Jesus to do what no one or nothing else can do. Our job is to remember that, believe it, and direct His power towards them in prayer and ministry. What no one else is strong enough to do, take heart:  HE CAN!
