“I Wait For The LORD”

“I wait for the LORD, my soul does wait, and in His word do I hope …” (Psalm 130:5) (1/28/19)

I just told Cheryl this morning, “The biggest thing we have on our list right now, we can’t do anything about” — selling our house. It is totally, out of our hands. We can pack, we can clean, we can list, we can line up things in Texas, and so on — but we can’t make anyone buy our house. It is THE biggest thing we have on our list — and there is pretty much, virtually nothing we can really do about it — but “wait for the LORD.” But that is exactly what He wants us to do, as this Psalm indicates.

I woke up this morning, after a long and emotional day of farewells yesterday,  with this first thought: “People see ‘events;’ but God sees the shaping of character.” That is so true. We see this as “are we going to sell the house?” God sees it is, “Are they going to trust Me?” His goal isn’t just “selling a house,” but building trust in us; faith; faithfulness; holiness; Christ-like character. So we need to see this — and everything else that happens in our lives — from God’s perspective. Learn what He wants us to during it. And from what I can see (especially here in Psalm 130) it is to TRUST HIM. “Wait for the LORD more than the watchman for the morning.” We can do nothing; so we need to just look to Him, and wait. He has done so much for us already; surely we can trust Him for this!  So:  “I wait for the LORD, my soul does wait, and in His word do I hope.”

I don’t think any of us knows the true depth of our individual faith. Even the strongest person of faith doesn’t have a clue, only God knows the portion He has meted out to each of us, but, you and Cheryl have shown a degree of the strength of your faith, your Pleasant Ridge family has witnessed it and your FBC Angleton family now does, which is a testament and encouragement for all of us as we watch God orchestrate this new directive, not only in your lives, but ours as well.

Shawn and Cheryl, we wait with you for this to sell. God already knows who and when this will happen. He just wants our trust. Will pray for calmness and peace as you go through this time in your life. If we can help in any way, please let us. Love to you both. Ray and Norine

Thank you Norine. Keep praying for us! Love y’all too!
